How to play Grandma's Solitaire
This is the solitaire my grandmother played at her table almost every day. The deck is dealt into 17 sets of three cards and one single card. Your goal is to bring all four suits home.
- Bring all four suits home. Each suit is built on its own ace, in order: ace, 2, 3 … up to king. When all 52 cards are home, you win.
- Only the top card moves. Only the top card of each set, the one on the right, can be moved.
- Tap to send a card home. Tap a top ace to put it on an empty ace spot. Tap the next card of that suit, like the 2♠ after the A♠, to add it on top.
- Match cards of the same rank. Drag a top card onto another top card of the same rank, in any suit. The set you drop it on must have fewer than 3 cards.
- Use matches to uncover cards. Moving a card away uncovers the one beneath it, which may be able to go home.
- Empty sets take any card. When a set is emptied, you can drag any top card into the empty space.
You can undo your last move between sets. Cards on the ace spots stay there. If no card can ever reach home, the deal is lost. Stuck along the way? Tap the light bulb for a hint.
